The Great Galveston Storm

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

I sat with a wonderful African-American lady tonight. she is 92 years old.  She described how her mother rode out the Great Galveston storm of 1900.  That was the same hurricane that killed seven thousand people and destroyed the city of Galveston in Texas.

She is very hard of hearing so I had to write everything down on a notebook. That made things a bit awkward.  If she could still converse well it would have been nice to hear about her mothers ordeal in the storm!

She said she had five kids, but all had already passed, that must have been difficult,  burying all five of your children!  She raised her granddaughter and  2 grand boys, which were now 19 and 21.  That had kept her busy in her later years!

Do you know of anyone who experienced the Great Galveston Storm?  Can you tell me about it in the comments section?
