General Westmoreland

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

I was at our hospice on a warm Saturday afternoon.  I was in a room of an elderly gentleman named Gino, but went by Jerry,  as he finished his delicious lunch of baked fish.  We talked for a while about different things, but especially his war years.

He shared with me that he was number one in his County draft, so he joined the Air Force.  The he shared with me that the Air Force trained him in military codes.  When his training was completed, the Air Force stationed him to an air Base on the island of Okinawa, Japan.

He flew out on B-52 bombers to send and receive military codes while they bombed the enemy combatants in North Vietnam and Laos. A lot of the time they also flew out of a base by Saigon in South Vietnam.

When they were in Saigon, his office was very close to the office of General Westmoreland!  General Westmoreland was the man in charge of the entire Vietnam War!  He even played golf with him and his staff at the base golf course in Saigon!

Have you ever been around famous people before?  Can you tell me about it in comments section?
