She Is Part Of The Family

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

I was at our hospice on a beautiful sunny morning.  I was training a new volunteer, a young man of Indian ancestry from Pennsylvania, his name is Mohan.  He had just graduated from Rice University and want to attend medical school.

We walked into a room with an elderly African-American lady lying in bed, very thin, and dying of cancer.  In the room with her was an elderly Hispanic lady and her middle-aged daughter.  I would find out that the patient was their nanny!

As Mohan and I were talking to the elderly Hispanic lady, she shared with us that they were immigrants from the South American country of Venezuela.  She shared with us as their family grew in this country, they hired a nanny to help with the kids and home.

This nanny was in their employ for twenty-six years!  She was loved by everyone and raised the children and was starting on the grandchildren!  She was very much beloved by the whole family!  So much so that she actually became part of the family!

The elderly lady praised her nanny as a wonderful person.  The daughter was sitting on the bed slowly caressing her nannies hand and saying soft sweet things to her!  The daughter was absolutely heart broken!  She was grieving a treasured family member!

Did you ever had a nanny or someone else that was considered part of the family?  Can you tell me about it in the comments section?
