They Don't Want To Die On The Holidays!
Hello everyone. Praise the Lord!
I was very busy this Saturday morning at our hospice, lots of running around! I was taking a little break at the first floor nurses station. I was sitting there with three nurses and they were telling stories about escaping patients and other patient stories.
It is just after the Thanksgiving holiday's and the patient census was low this week. No one here was surprised by that bit of information. Our census is never level, it is either very low or we have a waiting list to get in here!
They then shared how the patients either die just before the holidays or they wait until the holidays are over before passing on! They don't want to die on the holidays! Also, if they know a loved one is en-route to see them it is common that they linger on until they arrive before passing.
It was a story that was told, but we all already knew about it. But it was one of the stories that we all tell to each other, but we never get tired of telling them to each other! I don;t know why, maybe it's emotional beneficial to us. Maybe it just makes us fell good about the holidays!
Do you know of someone who has died around the holidays? Can you share it with me in the comments section?
