Escape On The Bus!

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

It was a beautiful Saturday morning and it was a busy day for me.  Not that it was full of people, but just a lot of running around to do.  So, I decided to take a little break at the first floor nurses station.  There was three nurses also there and they started to trade stories about patient escapes!

Karen was one of the nurses there, she was today's Charge nurse.  They told of several escapes over the years.  One of them was a man who was a patient and just decided that it was time to go!  This patient was not yet bed-ridden.

While the nurses were preoccupied with other things, he silently got out of his bed and put on his street cloths.  He quickly walked out of his room and down the hall to the front door.  Being in street cloths, the security guard didn't think anything of it.

He walked out of the building and down the street, where he caught a bus!   He took the bus home and was there for awhile until members of his family found out about it.  When they discovered him, they called the hospice.

We sent an ambulance and under duress from his family, he was returned to the hospice.  After that he was watched more carefully.  We all laughed about it, but I'm sure no one was laughing then!

Do you know of anyone who had escaped from a medical institution?  Can you tell me about it in the comments section?
