The Waterbed Fire

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

I was in a room with a retired Austin, Texas fire fighter.  He was a little guy, which kinda of surprised me.  You can read more about him in the post called, "The car fire."  He was a real nice, soft spoken guy and I enjoyed the visit with him.

I asked him what was the most dangerous fire he had to put out in his carrier.  He took a minute to think about it and said the waterbed fire.  I thought that was kind of odd, I didn't think that waterbeds could burn.

He said that a waterbed warehouse will have several waterbeds filled with water, but most are not.  He said that the warehouse was full of wooded frames and plastic mattresses that caused a chemical smoke that was toxic.

It was not the filled beds in the showroom, it was the back warehouse filled with wooden bed frames.  It caused a very intensive fire that almost killed him.  It was a bad one!

He was in the burning building when they called a mayday and ordered everyone out of the building because it was going to collapse.  The roof was sagging down and they had to get everyone out fast!

When he heard the order on the radio to get out, he turned around and seen nothing but fire!  He ran through the fire, hoping that it was just a small fire line.  It was and he was able to get out without too much harm to himself!

Do you know of a fire fighter?  Can you tell me about it in the comments section?
