The Secret Wife

I was talking with this nice, talkative middle-aged lady named Donna. She and I talked for three hours and told me a lot of stories. You can read more about her stories in the posts called, "The meeting that killed," The one-legged invitation," "The shotgun makes the preacher," "Her church family," "A doctor ahead of his time."
When Donna was a little girl she was at her aunts home, her father's sister, spending some time with her. Somehow the subject of her father's first marriage came up! When Donna returned home and with the family together, Donna asked her dad about his first wife!
Everyone was shocked! Only her father and his sister even knew about that secret marriage! Donna's mother and siblings were shocked! They did not know! Her father had kept it a secret! He kept it a secret because it was a bit embarrassing for him.
While he was in medical school in Galveston, Texas, he meet a beautiful girl named Jimmie. This beautiful girl chased after and married Donna's father because she thought that he would become a rich doctor! But after about six months she found a better prospect for money and left him.
It was an unpleasant memory for her father, and a bit embarrassing for him to talk about, so he kept it a secret. Well, everyone thought it was kind of funny and they all moved on after the secret was out.
