Prison!

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

I soon as I showed up at the hospice this morning, the nurses told me that they had a mission for me.  A patient needed to go to the smoking gazebo.  His room was at the end of the hall.  I walk over there and introduce myself.   No wasted time, as soon as he heard that I was there to escort him to the smoking gazebo, he was ready to go!

He is healthy enough to walk!  I mentioned that to John, he didn't seem to understand.  It is rare that a hospice patient here can walk around!  Sometimes they are in a wheel chair, most of the time they are in bedridden!

We walk pretty quickly out to the smoking gazebo, John knows exactly where it is located.  That tells me he has been there many times already.  It is about nine-thirty in the morning, so it is still kind of cool still.

We talk for awhile then he mentioned that he was in the Texas Prison System for eighteen years!  He was there for burglarizing houses to support his drug habit.! He was a lifelong cocaine user!  They gave him a fifteen-year sentence, but he served eighteen years!  he kept breaking the parole rules!

At first he snorted the cocaine until his sinuses were damaged.  He then injected it into his arms.  Then he smoked crack cocaine.  Now he is getting proscribed morphine, which is legal for him now!

After John shared this story with me, he died four days later!

Do you know anyone who has been in prison?  Can you tell me about it in the comments section?
