I Want To Go Home!

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

Scott and I went to the second floor nurses station by request of the Charge nurse.  There was an elderly Hispanic lady at the nurses station, sitting in a wheelchair,  complaining about everything and driving the nurses crazy!  Her biggest complaint was that she was there to begin with.

The nurses wanted us to take the lady out into the garden.  It was a beautiful day out, not too cold or hot, just right.  So, we push her out there in her wheelchair.  She is complaining all of the time of wanting to go home.

I don't really know what to tell her.  She does not seem to be in her right mind.  Probably suffering from Dementia.  She wanted to go home, but that home may not have existed anymore.  Maybe she does not even remember her home.  Maybe "home" was just a memory in her mind.

Scott and I pushed her around for two and a half hours and all she did was say that she wanted to go home.  It was very sad.  She must have been very sad.  I felt sorry for her condition and lot in life.

When we finally brought her back to her room, she had two sisters waiting for her!  That was great news!  The sisters could visit with her and calm her down!  They certainly could make her feel at ease and more comfortable about her stay at our hospice.  A little bit of a happy ending on the day.

Do you know anyone who just wanted to go home?  Can you tell me about it in the comments section?
