Ice Cream With His Brothers
Hello everyone. Praise the Lord!
Martie and I were in a room visiting with an older ninety-five year old man who was the patient. His brother was Jim McConn, an old mayor of Houston. He had two other brothers as well. The three pretty granddaughters told me a great story.
The three granddaughters walked in and the patient awoke for a while. He had told his granddaughters that earlier in the morning, before breakfast, he was awake in his room. It was quiet in the early morning hours.
Then he said that his brothers all walked in the room with ice cream for him. They said it was time for an ice cream party! So they all ate ice cream and swapped stories about their childhood growing up together. They forgot to bring ice cream for Jim, but they all shared it with him. That was kind of an inside joke! They had a great time together.
The granddaughters asked John, their grandfather, and patient, if they were really his brothers. John said that. "of course they were, I may be old and dying, but he knows his brothers when he sees them."But granddad, they said, "Your brothers have been dead for years now!"
