Ship Of War Brides
Hello everyone. Praise the Lord!
I was in a room with a middle age lady whom was the daughter of the patient. The patient was a ninety-six year old lady. Both her and her brother escaped from Nazi Germany. She was only sixteen years old at the time.
She went to live with an aunt in Prague, the capital city of then Czechoslovakia. She was only there for a year when she was reunited with her brother in England.
There in England she meet a U.S. Army service man stationed there. They fell in love there during the World War Two years and joined in marriage.
She was now what is called a "War Bride." World War Two was a very large war and the United States Army had tens of thousands of Men stationed in England and all over Europe at the time. So, there were thousands of war brides.
What I found out today was that entire ships of war brides sailed together in the same ships! Our elderly patient was one of them. She sailed from England to Ellis Island in New York City after the war to be with her American husband.
I don't know if these ships had a name, but I called it a "Ship of Brides." Our patient lived as much life before she was twenty-one then most of us live in a lifetime!
Do you know anyone who was a war bride? Can you tell me about it in the comments section?
