The Russian Incident!

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

I was speaking to three of the nurses at the nurses station and one of them was a former marine.  Her father was a carrier Air Force man, just like my father.  You can read more about her father in the post, "Lucky Dog.

Back in the sixties, they were stationed in the Mid-West.  Her father was with his assigned B-52 bomber with their other crew members.  He was a door gunner.  Just for fun, as young men commonly do, painted their plane.  Airmen have been doing that since the beginning of the age of flight.

They painted a sign on their plane that read, "SAC will soon rule the world!"  SAC means Strategic Air Command.  It seemed like a nice idea a the time to paint that on the plane.  Just until a Russian military inspection team came around!

When the Russians read the sign on the side of the bomber, they went ballistic!  They got very angry.  They said that if SAC ruled the world then America would be bombing Russia!  They said that would never happen!

They complained to the U.S. Air Force General that it was unacceptable.  It even made the local news in the nearby area!  It caused a big incident.  They were told to paint something else over the sign to make the Russians happy.

Have you ever caused a big incident before?  Can you tell me about it in the comments section?
