Salvation?
Hello everyone. Praise the Lord!
Three nurses and I were at the nurses station talking about a lot of different topics. I was just taking an emotional break between patients. Then the nurses turned to glance at one room just across the hallway from where we were standing.
The nurses then brought up a recent situation with one of our volunteer chaplains. The patient's room had several family members around. The volunteer chaplain entered the room, but what he didn't know was that he entered a hornets nest!
He had walked in to talk to and pray with the patient and the family members. But he had two family groups that wanted the chaplain to "save" the patient before he died! The problem is....what do you consider salvation?
Both of the groups wanted the chaplain to save their loved one THEIR way, which was different then the other group! The chaplain might have had a different opinion about the subject. But he was hopelessly caught in between these two groups!
Our volunteer chaplain are not allowed to proselytize, that's standard hospice policy anywhere. They cannot offer a religious point of view unless they are asked. These folks were not asking him, they were telling him their point of view! They could not agree on a plan of salvation, so their frustration vented out like a volcano, and they started yelling at our volunteer chaplain!
Everyone got angry at our chaplain, he became the focal point of their frustration! He was caught in the middle of this family's religious civil war! The two groups got angry at themselves and each other, and our chaplain! It all turned into a big mess, which was a very sad note for the future of this family!
