A Grateful Family
Hello everyone. Praise the Lord!
I walked into a room with four folks in it. I was passing out mints, which is my way of starting a conversation with the new people that I meet. In this room was a black man wearing a Christian shirt, A large black woman and a think black woman.
They were all middle aged. The patient was an elderly black woman, the mother of the other three. You can read more about them in my post called, "Eight Lawyers." A lot was going on behind the scenes.
When I walked into the room I introduced myself and offered them some mints. They all took some and they were very grateful for the kind offer, We talked for a little while and they were overjoyed that I was a volunteer. They especially enjoyed hearing that we give out prayer cloths down in the chapel!
They all took turns expressing their gratitude for my services. Those moments are always very nice, but I find them awkward and kinda embarrassing! But, that's okay, it serves a good purpose for the ones giving the gratitude.
There are a few reasons that vocalizing gratitude to others can help you. Sometimes it releases tension in the air. Sometimes it can help if you are frustrated. Sometimes it can just make yourself feel better about the situation that you are in.
Knowing this, it's my duty to politely accept their kind words and to be grateful for it. I always am grateful, especially now that we are in the holiday season!
Has anyone expressed gratitude to you lately? Can you tell me about it in the comments section?
