The Army Counserlor

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

I had a new hospice volunteer to train today.  His name is Jimmie and he is a middle aged large African-American with a little beard.  He had retired from the Army.  His MOS was air defense.  I told him that my brother was in the Army with air defense.  He drove a tank chassis with an anti-aircraft gun on the top of it.

He said that he served three tours in Afghanistan, two tours in Iraq, three tours in Korea, and many more places.  When we were on the second floor at the nurses station we thanked him for his service.  He got embarrassed!  He said that it felt awkward for people to tell him that.  I told him to enjoy it because in the past they would have spit on you.

Jimmie is now a full time student in a masters degree program learning to be a counselor.  He wanted to start a wellness clinic with his kids.  One is a physical therapist and the other one is a misuse.  I told him that it was a great dream to have!

He was very talkative and it was tough to get things done with him non-stop talking.  So it sounds like he will be a good counselor!  But I think that he will end up doing most of the talking!  He was confused by God, but he was a christian and a Catholic believer.

Do you know of anyone who is learning to be a counselor?  Can you tell me about it in the comments section?
