He Shined Like A Diamond!

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

I walked into a room at the beginning of the hall on the third floor.  There was an African-American family in the room.  An older lady sitting on the couch by the window.  An older man sitting on the chair between the bed and bookcase.  A middle aged man of fifty-eight in bed dying of kidney disease that he was born with.

The patient also had Hepatitis C and was mentally handicapped.  I went in and introduced myself.  I had a box of mints and I walked into the room and offered them some.  The lady took some and also the gentleman.

Both of them were very happy to have me there and to visit with them.  The man in the bed sleeping was their son.  Their only child.  He had about a month to live at best!  Both of them were very sad about his condition, but were very brave in the face of fate.

I was in their room for almost four hours!  She talked for a long time about how that she was a victim of identity theft! She said that the IRS was hounding them for years!  She even said that people had followed her around sometimes, She said that she would confront them if she had seen them.

She had with her pictures of her family and a work history of her son.  His work history was very modest, Because of his mental handicap,  but his mother was very proud of him!  He might not have been much in the eye's of man, but he shined as a diamond in the heart of his mother!

Do you know of a parent that has a special love for their child?  Can you tell me about it in the comments section?
