Skipping School
Hello everyone. Praise the Lord!
I was in Mary's room on the third floor. Mary has been with us a while, a few months now. She had a heart attack, then a stroke, now she is with us. She is fun to talk with because she loves to talk and have company. You can read more about Mary in the posts called, "I had to get away," "Seventeen stents," "Rochester Gauges," "Body dancing," "You are so sweet."
I had visited her several times already. Today she shared about her early schooling, or a lack of schooling! Mary doesn't like to read! In fact, she hates to read. Mary would only read the back of a book it had a short summary of the book. Every time they had to do a book report, she did it using the same book and would give the same book report.
She did that many times until one of her classmates complained to the teacher. Mary told the teacher that she gives the same one because she just hates to read. After that Mary kept skipping school!
She would stay at home after her parents went off to work. She did that until the sheriff started to come by the house! Then she would go the neighborhood park to skip school! That was working until the sheriff got her there!
Her mom became very mad at her, probably because her mom didn't finish school either. Her mom told her that she could quit school if she wanted, but she would have to get a GED and go to work! So she took her mother's advice and in the beginning of her senior year, Mary quit school, got her GED, and got a job.
