His Father Was Murdered!
Hello everyone. Praise the Lord!
Mohammed was telling me about his life in his home town of Bosaso, Somalia. He said the there is a lot of violence in the city and the country as a whole. Especially at night they could hear the shooting and they just tried to stay out of the way.
His father was a very successful business man in Bosaso. He bought and sold goods in India and his home town of Bosaso. He was the pride of the family and an important man in his tribe. Somalia is a very tribal country. If you want to do business or buy land, you need to go to the tribal elders first, or else nothing will get done!
One day a certain man in another tribe was killed by someone in Mohammed's tribe. The elders of that tribe discussed what to do about it. They decided to kill Mohammed's father for revenge because he was very successful.
As was the custom of Mohammed's father, when he got back from a business trip, he would pass out charity in front of the city mosque. That is where they killed him! Giving gifts to the poor in front of the mosque! It was very sad.
Mohammed said that it was the way it is over there, and nothing could be done about it. I told him in a fatherly way that the best way to do something about it is to finish his studies and be a successful man that his father could be proud of!
