Sadness Overcome By Joy
Hello everyone. Praise the Lord!
I was training a new volunteer that day, a young guy. This is a story from a few years ago. We were walking down the hallway talking about caring for the patients, when we seen a middle ages lady sitting down on the couch in a room. we walk in and introduce ourselves. She had been crying, so it was a bit awkward.
At first she said that a visit wasn't necessary, then I paused, but then she started talking! She talked about her mother, who was the patient in the bed. She was a good mother and a kind and compassionate person. We talked about her and her family and I reminded her about all of the blessings that God had given her. We talked for two or three hours, in the room, in the hallway and back in the room.
At the end of our visit the same lady that had been crying was now laughing and smiling and very joyful. It was a perfect visit! The lady was very happy now and very appreciative of our company. As the new volunteer and I was walking back down the hallway towards the elevator, I told him that that was the perfect visit! When you can change a person's countenance from crying to laughing and smiling, that is the perfect visit. The Holy Spirit was with me that night.
Has the Holy Spirit helped you in any way? Can you tell me about it in the comments section?
