The Chinese Translator

Hello everyone.

Last week I had a new volunteer to shadow me, but we got our email crossed and she didn't come in.  This last Saturday we had our biannual volunteer appreciation party and as I was sitting in the chapel she walked up and introduced herself to me.

"Linda" was a very nice Oriental lady. Middle aged and very proper.  As with traditional orientals, she didn't show much emotion.

The first part of our volunteer appreciation party was in the chapel and was a dedication to our recently passed Volunteer Coordinator. Her daughter was there and it was very sad and we were all in tears talking about her kindness to others.  Our new Hospice CEO was there and said a few words.  A very famous doctor in the area and husband of one of our volunteers!

At the luncheon in the office I had remembered that earlier I came across a Chinese gentleman that could not speak any English. So I asked Linda if spoke another language.  She proclaimed that she spoke Mandarin, Taiwanese, and German!  She worked in Germany for awhile.

So I shared with her about the Chinese man who could not speak any English and we went to see him.  I couldn't remember which floor he was on so we ended up looking on the both upper floors until we found him on the first floor.

When we arrived at the room, there was four young Chinese folks there visiting with the patient.  They we're from her Chinese Christian Church.  They were leaving and very nice and polite.  Linda spoke with the patient and the doctor used her as a translator.  Linda was awesome and did a fantastic job.  They immediately signed her up as a translator!

I am sure that it was God's guidance and His Will that this lady arrived for the party and just in time for this Chinese visitor to the hospice.  God answers prayer.

Do anyone reading this blog been blessed with the ability to speak multiple languages?  If you can, can you tell us which ones in the comments section?
