I'm At Peace With It

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

Recently my wife and I traveled to Morgan City, Louisiana, to visit our friends there and her family.  This was only a week after hurricane Ida plowed through the area, just east of Morgan City!  While we were there, we stayed a few days at her parents home in a little bayou town of Stephensville, a few miles northeast of Morgan City.

Her father has been having stomach issue here lately! He doesn't like doctors very much, and he always has very bad reactions to medications!  He seems to adverse to any type of medicines.  Only his blood pressure medication he can handle, but things like his diabetes has to be controlled by natural means, and not through medications.

Because he cannot take any medications, he doesn't care to go to the doctor.  But in the last few months, he has been experiencing stomach problems. If he eats certain foods, his stomach cramps up and he has to spend a little time in the bathroom!  Some foods he can eat and others he is finding out, he cannot.

The family would like him to go to the hospital to have some test done to find out what is the problem.  He says that he is seventy-nine years old and is too old to fight any type of illness that he may have developed.  He says that he would rather not know, and just live out his days like he is doing.

My wife knows her father very well, and know the high degree of stubbornness that exits in him!  He tells us that he is too old to care, and is ready to go anyway!  He currently is in good shape for his age and still has a clear mind.

I understand his mindset and would make the exact decision if I was in his shoes. My wife loves her father very much and is worried for him. But as she told me as we were driving back home, "I am at peace with it!"  She is at peace with him making that decision concerning his health.
