Kamikaze Island, in the Atchafalaya Swamp Basin, is rumored to be a stop of Pirate Jean Lafitte and his crew! The swamps of south Louisiana was the perfect place to hide for pirates and any assorted outlaws.

The island has said to be haunted by a member of Lafitte's crew who may have been sacrificed to protect buried treasure. Today the island is in private hands.
