It Just Knocked Me Back!
Hello everyone. Praise the Lord!
I went and visited with my last patient at our hospice before I move away from town. Plus with the Covid-19 restrictions coming back, we were all going back on suspension. My last patient was a very unique black gentleman. His name was Versal.
Versal was a seventy-eight year old who had an interesting religious outlook. He appears to have been a Harry Krishna adherent! But he was most importantly a man dying of lung cancer! I walked into his room on the third floor and asked him if he wanted someone to talk too. He was happy that I was there and readily agreed.
We talked for about an hour. One of the stories he shared was how he found out that he was sick. He said that he was a roofer all of his life, which is very hard work! He was at a roofing job when he said fell straight back on the ground! He said that something knocked him straight back and he didn't know what was going on. He had felt fine before that day.
They took him to the hospital and they found that he had advanced lung cancer! It was so advanced that they transferred him to hospice care! He seemed to be in a good mood and very talkative. He did mention that his children had issues with his choice of religion. I could clearly understand why, being that he followed an unusual deity.
Regardless of our differences in this life, we must not reject our friends and family in their time of need. Even if they are annoying and bothersome. The Lord has made us all special and unique, let us rejoice in our differences!
